Thiruvonam is the most important and auspicious day of Onam, the grand harvest festival of Kerala celebrated in the Malayalam month of Chingam (August to September). It marks the homecoming of the legendary King Mahabali, whose reign is remembered as a golden age of prosperity, equality and joy.
